August 14 and 15, 2026. Kannai, Yokohama.
Introducing the 14.1 (straight pool) study groups that send their players to SANSIAS presents Yokohama 14-1 Summit.

On the third Sunday of every month, in the morning, people gather at POOL LABO in Kannai, Yokohama.

Ten-thirty.
It is still morning.

The day has barely begun, and here a long match is already under way.

They take up their cues at ten-thirty and keep playing until four.

Five matches.
Fifty minutes a game.

Not to win.

The club has a predecessor.

The Tokyo 14-1 Club of Mizutani-san, known as “BOSS.”

Carrying its spirit, it was born again in Yokohama in 2024.

That is why the name carries “BOSS-ha”—the school of BOSS.

It was not only the name they inherited.
They carried on its way of facing 14.1, too.

What builds up at this club is not wins and losses.
It is high runs, and averages.

No prizes.
No trophies.

But play five games through, and your true level shows plainly in your average.

There is no hiding.
The numbers are honest.

For more than two years, under the same rules, the numbers have been piling up.

Some days you feel you’ve got better.
Some days nothing goes right.

But the average alone never lies.

The number is higher than last month’s.
A layout you kept missing until yesterday went in today.

Those small changes stay behind, as numbers.

Growth stops being a feeling and becomes a record.
That may be this club’s greatest treasure.

Masato Fujita, who leads the club, puts it this way:

“We encourage people to take on challenges without being afraid to fail.”

With nothing to win or lose, you can try things.
You can ask the person at the next table for advice.

You can take on a difficult layout, on purpose.
Even when it misses, someone will say, “So close.”

That kind of place.

Even if you’ve never played 14.1, you are guaranteed five matches.
Everyone gets to stay at the table until the very end.

Any class welcome.
If you’re curious about 14.1, you are welcome here.

Into the afternoon, focus and fatigue begin to mingle.

The fourth match. The fifth.

Your arm is tired, and still you want to aim just one more ball with care.

That is 14.1.

By the time the day’s play is over, everyone is a little tired.

Even so, they check next month’s date before they head home.
