“I’d like to enter, but there are a few things I’m not sure about…”
For you, we’ve gathered the most common questions. Read this, and your worries and questions should all be put to rest.
📋 Entering
Q1. Where do I enter?
A. Please use our entry form:
Q2. When is the entry deadline?
A. Until 23:59 on Saturday, February 14, 2026. However, entries will close as soon as the field is full (128 players, with pro spots going to the first 16).
Q3. Will I receive a confirmation email after entering?
A. Yes, we will send an email confirming your entry. If it doesn’t arrive, please email info@yokohama-billiards.com and let us know.
Q4. I don’t know my class. What should I do?
A. The surest way is to ask the staff at the hall where you usually practice. If you’re unsure, just note it when you enter, and the Organizing Committee will check.
💰 Fees and payment
Q5. How much is the entry fee?
A.
• Pro, LP, A: ¥8,000
• B, C: ¥5,000
Q6. How do I pay?
A. Please pay in cash at the venue on the day. There is no advance payment.
Q7. Can I get a receipt?
A. Yes, we’ll issue one to anyone who needs it. Please ask at reception on the day.
Q8. Is there a cancellation fee?
A. If you cancel after the bracket is announced, cancel on the day, or arrive late, you will be charged the full entry fee. If there are unavoidable circumstances, please let us know as early as possible.
🏆 Rules and format
Q9. What is double elimination?
A. It’s a system where, even if you lose once, you keep playing in the losers’ bracket. In other words, you play on until you’ve lost twice. Even beginners get to enjoy at least two matches.
Q10. How many racks are the matches?
A. It depends on your class and whether you’re on the winners’ or losers’ side.

• Pro: race to 6 (5 on the losers’ side)
• LP, A: race to 5 (4 on the losers’ side)
• B, C: race to 4 (3 on the losers’ side)
[Finals]
• Pro: race to 7
• LP, A: race to 6
• B, C: race to 5
Q11. What is the chess clock?
A. It’s a time bank. Each player has to finish within a set amount of time. If your time runs out, from then on you play with a 30-second shot clock on every shot.
[Qualifiers]
• Pro: 36 min. / LP, A: 30 min. / B, C: 25 min.
[Finals]
• Pro: 42 min. / LP, A: 36 min. / B, C: 30 min.
📍 Venues and access
Q12. Where are the qualifying venues?
A. Four venues in Yokohama.
• POOL LABO (Mariya Bldg. 4F, 2-66 Isezakicho, Naka-ku)
• Arrows (Daini Sansei Bldg. 1F, 5-3-22 Shimosueyoshi, Tsurumi-ku)
• Side Nine (KW Place Yokohama Wadamachi 2F, 2-15-19 Wada, Hodogaya-ku)
• Astro Tsurugamine (1-38-3 Tsurugamine Honcho, Asahi-ku)
Q13. Can I choose my qualifying venue?
A. Yes, you can choose your preferred venue when you enter. Depending on each venue’s capacity, however, we may ask you to adjust.
Q14. Where are the finals?
A. At POOL LABO (Mariya Bldg. 4F, 2-66 Isezakicho, Naka-ku).
Q15. Is there parking?
A. All venues other than POOL LABO have parking, but it may be full, or difficult depending on your vehicle. As a rule, we recommend coming by public transport. For details, please check each venue’s official website.
👔 Dress code and what to bring
Q16. Is there a dress code?
A. No shorts or sandals. Beyond that, please wear something clean and neat. Sportswear is fine.
Q17. What should I bring?
A. Your own cue (if you have one), the entry fee, and your fighting spirit
🎁 Prizes and bingo
Q18. How far down do the prizes go?
A. Prizes go down to joint 17th.
• Winner: ¥200,000
• Runner-up: ¥100,000
• Joint 3rd: ¥50,000
• Joint 5th: ¥25,000
• Joint 9th: ¥15,000 in Chinatown meal vouchers
• Joint 17th: billiards goods set
Q19. Does everyone take part in the bingo?
A. Yes, everyone who enters will receive a bingo card. It will be held at the finals venue (POOL LABO), so even if you go out in the qualifiers, please come along.
Q20. What are the bingo prizes?
A. Billiards gear, Chinatown meal vouchers, fine prizes from our sponsors, and many more. Wait and see on the day!
👨👩👧👦 Watching and cheering
Q21. Can anyone watch?
A. Yes, watching is free. Bring your family and friends.
Q22. Can I bring children?
A. Yes, of course. We do ask that everyone watch quietly during matches. Running around or shouting disturbs the players, so please be considerate.
Q23. Can I take photos?
A. Yes, you may take photos from the spectator area. Please do not use flash, or shoot from anywhere that gets in a player’s way.
⏰ Schedule and running order
Q24. What time should I arrive on the day?
A. 9:00 check-in. There is registration and an opening ceremony, so please allow plenty of time.
Q25. What happens if I’m late?
A. If five minutes pass after your name is called, you forfeit. Please be sure to leave yourself plenty of time.
Q26. What time will the tournament end?
A. The qualifiers are expected to finish around early evening, and the finals at night. The exact finishing time depends on how the day runs, so please plan with time to spare.
Q27. If I’m knocked out in the qualifiers, can I go home right away?
A. Of course, you’re free to leave. But the finals are at POOL LABO, so please do come and watch. There’s bingo, too!

Q28. Where can I see photos and videos?
A. We’ll post them as we go on our official X (@YokohamaOpen) and Instagram (@yokohamaopen). We also plan to post videos on YouTube.
Q29. I’d rather my photos and videos weren’t used…
A. When you enter, you agree that photos, video and your name may be published on the web, YouTube and elsewhere. If this is a real problem for you, please talk to us in advance.
